Sarah K. Moore, PhD, LCSW
Research Scientist, Northeast Node of the National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network, Center for Technology and Behavioral Health, Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth
Sarah K. Moore, PhD, LCSW is a behavioral researcher specializing in mixed methods research. Her primary research interests focus on opioid use among adolescents and young adults, pain, and optimizing evidence-based prevention of, and treatment approaches for opioid use disorder. Dr. Moore received a MA in Religious Studies from the University of Chicago, a MSW from Columbia University, and a PhD in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her dissertation research involved the design and implementation of an intervention to facilitate social work student’ consideration of the consequences of taking a harm reduction approach to their work with clients who abuse substances. Dr. Moore completed a post-doctoral training program at NDRI, Inc. where she was fortunate to work with Dr. Marsch on several projects related to her primary research interests. She is currently working with various CTBH affiliates and research team members on: 1) a rapid epidemiological hot-spotting study (mixed methods) to better understand the disproportionate rates of fentanyl laced-heroin (FLH) overdoses among residents of New Hampshire compared with other US states, 2) the development and evaluation of a web-based study to prevent prescription opioid misuse among adolescents (Pop4Teens), and 3) the development and use of qualitative, evaluative dimensions to better understand the efficacy of an integrated mobile platform for buprenorphine adherence for young adults with opioid use disorder (MySafeRx), 4) the evaluation of the Safe Station program’s function, impact, sustainability, and replicability, and 5) the exploration of substance use screening practices and barriers to screening with an eye towards increased understanding of how best to implement electronic health record-integrated substance use screening in primary care clinics. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys spending time with her teenage daughter (no sarcasm intended), maximizing time outdoors, preparing for her annual triathlon, watching TRMS, reading to keep up with her brilliant book club pals, and dining out (and occasionally cooking in) with her husband.
