Dr. Jonathan Ballard’s background is in health services leadership, public health and clinical research, as well as his current role as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). As CMO for DHHS, Dr. Ballard is responsible for both clinical and administrative oversight functions for staff, programs and service providers of clinical, health insurance coverage, and quality assurance and improvement programs within the department. He works closely with the Commissioner’s Office and the DHHS Executive Team, division directors, physicians and clinical and program staff to ensure cost-effective, compliant and high-quality programs, services, and operations system-wide. Dr. Ballard also oversees the clinical implementation of quality improvement efforts designed to improve clinical and quality performance and maintain compliance with JCAHO, HIPAA, state and federal mandates and other accreditation standards as well as evaluate developments in medical care, health services administration, health insurance programming, including managed care, and make recommendations for new practices, policies and procedures
